Step 2: Shower with the provided shampoo & body wash to clean off impurities. This way we keep the tank as clean as possible.
Step 3: Enter the float tank and enjoy at least 40 minutes of floating. Floating times will vary depending on the time you take to shower prior and after your floating. Float devices are provided to help position for most comfort. Bathing attire is up to the individual.
Step 4: Shower to clean off the salt residue once floated. Towels provided once used, should be placed in the laundry basket in the clinic toilet facilities where there is also a hair dryer provided.
As the name suggests, floatation occurs in a floatation pod, or isolation tank, which is a cocoon like structure with a door which can be shut or kept open during the float session. Once inside the pod, you will find an inviting, 30cm deep water kept at a constant 37°Celsius. The water containing Epson salts will hold your body off the floor of the tank floating with no floating equipment. When floating, you can shut off the lights, close your eyes and enjoy the floating experience where the time is purely yours.
The float tank is both sound and light proof, and provides your brain the opportunity to disconnect from the constant bombardment of sensory input and enhance your ability to be mindful and present. The experience leaves you feeling deeply relaxed and re-invigorated as we facilitate replenishing your energy levels. There is simply no other technology or environment that can stimulate these basic human needs, rest and isolation.
Although floating has been around for some time, it only recently has been studied better and has shown to be beneficial for managing stress, depression, anxiety, and pain. These studies have showed that people floating had greater optimism and improved sleep quality.
Arrive on time
We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before your allocated time and stick around 15 mins following your float.
Turn off your phone
Your floating time is your investment into your wellbeing. Your phone will just be a distraction.
Ensure any small cuts or scratches are covered with a waterproof dressing (provided in room). If you have large cuts or sores, we recommend waiting till the sores have healed before floating.
Of course, this is for hygiene reasons but also if you don’t, the salt will DEFINITELY let you know to cover it up!
Remove glasses, contact lenses and jewellery
Don’t shave or wax within the 12 hours prior to your session. The salt will sting for sure!
Wait at least 48 hours after having hair coloured or chemically straightened for your floating session.
Don’t consume drugs or alcohol prior to your appointment.
We reserve the right to refuse treatment to anyone we suspect may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Please don’t take too long in the shower after your float.
We provide hair dryer facilities in the clinic toilet area for personal grooming after the floating session.
The water in the tank is kept at a constant temperature of 37° Celsius. The floating water is extremely sanitary. This is due to the high concentration of Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate), 10 micron filter bag, capable of filtering debris in the water as small as 1/4 the size of the diameter of a human hair. Water is also pumped by a UV light array, taking care of any micro-organisms that survives the extreme salt content of the water.
**Due to Corona virus, we are limiting to one floating session per day until 2021 to ensure the safest and best environment for our clients**
This extremely dense salt solution enables people of all body types to float effortlessly and, to a large extent, escape the pull of gravity (relative buoyancy). This unique environment frees the brain from the bulk of its processing duties.
Our tank water also uses hydrogen peroxide which assists in eliminating any virus, bacteria and fungus.
We ask that Floaters shower before entering and after exiting the float tank. We take every precaution to provide you with the cleanest, safest and most relaxing experience available.
Additionally, our tanks are monitored using testing protocols. This way, we check the water pH balancing, sterilisation and temperatures.
Between each float session the filtration system is automatically activated to ensure our tanks are clean and sterile for every session.
Buoyancy readings are taken every week to ensure that a sufficient amount of salt is dissolved in the solution to allow the right floating experience in the water.
The float tank is both sound and light proof, and provides your brain the opportunity to disconnect from the constant bombardment of sensory input and enhance your ability to be mindful and present. The experience leaves you feeling deeply relaxed and re-invigorated as we facilitate replenishing your energy levels.
